 Reflecting His Heart

Welcome to Reflecting His Heart, Heartlife’s blog discussion on the outflow of God’s heart through our lives in amazing ways. Heartlife’s purpose is to encourage an intimate and transformational faith journey with God that is revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ, throughout God’s Word. It’s been quite a transformational journey for me personally, as I thought I had known God for many years through Church attendance and Bible classes. I knew the “Right Stuff”, but my “relationship with God” was purely platonic.

Through a sequence of life transitions, God has taken my wife Gaitha and I on a transformational journey, that continues to be an amazing adventure today. We have not reached our final destination, and life still gets messy. But our intentional desire is to be as intimate and transparent in our Faith relationship journey with God as we can.  Through a series of life  challenges, our journey began in seeking God’s refuge in the midst of our storms. During this time, we took up a study at Church on “Christian Worldview” called The Truth Project. It is a study  of all the “social and cultural” facets of our lives…from a Biblical perspective.     It was captivating to see and learn about God’s Heart for all of His creation and His desire for our lives…through His Word, the BIBLE. Upon completion of the study, the impact drove us back to God’s Word from cover to cover to discover what we had missed and had never heard before. From there we embarked on a 3 year biblical journey reading from Genesis to Revelation; 1-2 chapters a day. As you may guess, it was tough sledding in some areas (the lists), and joyfully wonderful in others (Psalms); throughout that first reading.  But we were committed to doing this, as we continue to this day. It has been quite a journey of discovery. With each passage the Holy Spirit nudges us to dig deeper. Interacting with the  passages by checking maps, calculating measurements, noting the names on the lists and realizing where they fit in the accounts of Israel. ( Check out Asaph!) These are the first steps to not only understanding the narrative; but also the heart and the “Why?” behind the motives. Understanding and applying these can be life changing; it was for us. It truly does come down to where your heart is. ♥
